As a kid it seems like adults were always asking me what I wanted to be when I grew up. My answer never seemed to satisfy anyone though. Instead of answering with an astronaut, the president, teacher, a doctor at www.physiciancaredirect.com, or something else that was equally interesting and important. I would tell people I wanted to draw pictures when I grew up. I loved drawing and coloring. As I got older, I got into knitting, crocheting, quilting, and crafting. Even then, creating unique things and drawing was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
Today I own a screen printing shop where I screen print my drawings onto clothes and bags. I even sell my knit creations and quilts too. So to all of those adults who never thought that being an artist was a realistic aspiration for a child, I’m doing it. For any of you who want to have a job doing what you love, just know that it is very possible. Have a look at the different careers that you can pursue in art. Surely there is something on the list for anyone who loves art. I am a craft artist, and I couldn’t be happier with my choice.
